There was a time that chargers were well engineered, high quality units like my Robbe Infinity which is still going strong after 15 years - these came with a thick manual and if anything went wrong, chances are you could get it repaired. Seems to me that there’s a potential safety issue here, at the very least two damaged packs. Hopefully I'm not the pioneer here with significant bugs to squash. Hopefully it will be here by EOW and I'll be able to see what I've gotten myself into.

I just bought the recently released upgrade to the D6 called the S6. I'm hoping I didn't sign up for more than I bargained for. Hope this easy fix helps someone having the same issue. There are similar models from CUI or other brands with the same 4"x2" form factor but this one was in stock.Īfter removing the old module, desoldering the connectors on the new one and and soldering the AC and DC wires the charger works again. I found the VOF-225C-24 from CUI to be a drop-in replacement with the same dimensions and hole positions: Not wanting to investigate further I looked for a substitute module instead. I did some quick checks of fuses, diodes and FETs etc. I opened up the unit following directions on Youtube for the similar Hobbymate D6 DUO and found the AC/DC converter to be a separate module. These are different products.After about 6 months of use my HOTA D6 Pro began shutting down halfway through a charge, first sometimes, then more and more frequently until it finally didn't turn on any more.Īs the DC input still worked without any problem, I suspected that only the AC/DC converter was defective. When buying GroupsPro you can't download its payable iOS version for free.
